More than 400,000 kids under the age of 14 in Canada live with a neurodevelopmental disability. While there continues to be great advancement in the science of children’s brain health, these discoveries often don’t make it to the children and families who need it. Kids Brain Health Network exists to change this.

We bridge the gap between science and families, connecting Canada’s leading researchers with children who can benefit most from their work to help kids live their best lives. Our research makes earlier diagnosis possible. We evaluate new and effective treatments, find out what works, and explore better ways to support children and their families.

Together we are changing lives!
Since 2010, KBHN has invested over $60 million into 150 projects and research initiatives that are making a real difference. This has been possible because of our collaboration with more than 270 partners, funders and supporters who are dedicated to our shared vision of improving the lives of children living with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

Children’s Healthcare Canada

One Child Every Child

A Canada-first research and translation initiative funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund, with a vision for all Canadian children to be the healthiest, most empowered and thriving in the world. Led by the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute at the University of Calgary, One Child Every Child brings together Indigenous partners, Canada’s child health research institutes, equity-deserving communities, local and national stakeholders as well as global collaborators to dramatically improve the lives of children across Canada and beyond.

Child Health and Wellness

The University of Calgary is driving science and innovation to transform the health and well-being of children and families. Led by the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute, top scientists across the campus are partnering with Alberta Health Services, the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, and our community to create a better future for children through research.

Fulfilling the philanthropic legacy of David J. Azrieli z”l, the Azrieli Foundation has been funding institutions as well as operating programs in Israel and Canada since 1989. Driven by a strong belief in the powerful role and responsibility of philanthropy, the Foundation empowers people by supporting a broad range of organizations, facilitating innovative outcomes and increasing knowledge and understanding in the search for practical and novel solutions.

The Knowledge Institute supports Ontario child and youth mental health and addictions agencies, communities and decision makers to help young people in our province develop in ways that expand their future opportunities and ensure lifelong mental health.

We drive high-quality, evidence-based child and youth mental health and addictions services for Ontario’s children, young people and families.

Our approach and our work are anchored by two core goals: to mobilize knowledge and improve quality across Ontario’s child and youth mental health and addictions sector.

ABLE2 believes in an inclusive community where all people are seen as able, respected, and valued. People with disabilities face many challenges including stigma, accessibility, social isolation, discrimination, and inequity. Our programs and services empower persons of all ages across the disability spectrum and their families to build lives of meaning and joy as valued members of our community.

The Canada Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Research Network (CanFASD) is a collaborative, interdisciplinary research network, with collaborators, researchers and partners across the nation. It is Canada’s first comprehensive national Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) research network. It started as an alliance of seven jurisdictions and operated for seven years as the Canada Northwest FASD Research Network.

CanFASD’s unique partnership brings together many scientific viewpoints to address complexities of FASD, with a focus of ensuring that research knowledge is translated to community and policy action. Our mission is to produce and maintain national, collaborative research designed for sharing with all Canadians, leading to prevention strategies and improved support services for people affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

Working in partnership across the country – CanFASD is collaborating with national entities concerned with FASD, including the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Health Canada and Kids Brain Health. Today, CanFASD researchers are currently taking part in almost all of the FASD research projects across Canada that are supported by PHAC. CanFASD researcher are currently leading over 50 major projects related to FASD prevention, intervention and diagnostics. CanFASD connects researchers, graduate students and practitioners from communities and institutions across Canada, and internationally.

CanFASD is not a funding body nor can it provide direct services.
