KBHN has always been fortunate to have an exceptionally qualified and diverse group of board directors. Each director is rich in experience and has an active interest in helping Kids Brain Health realize its vision.

Donna Duncan is no exception. Duncan has been the KBHN Co-Chair since 2018 and has a deep commitment to advocacy and volunteerism. She, along with co-chair, David Kuik, led the Board in tandem with exceptional passion and enthusiasm. With that said, it is with deep sadness that we announce her resignation from the KBHN Board of Directors.

“Donna’s impact in KBHN over the last few years was critically important,” Kuik said. “Her experience and expertise helped us keep a steady course during our strategic planning work.  I could not have asked for a better co-Chair, and I’m grateful for all that I have learned from her.”

Duncan previously led Hincks-Dellcrest through transformational change and extensive programmatic and quality improvements, of which she now serves as Chief Executive Officer. Since then, the centre has been integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children in 2017. She provided similar leadership for KBHN during the final year of its Cycle II funding.

Nicky Lewis, the KBHN Chief Executive Officer, noted, “Her expertise was instrumental in our NCE Cycle III application. Donna’s extensive experience within government relations and children’s health care provided KBHN with the proficiency needed to submit a thorough application.”

Lewis also noted that Donna is a hallmark of leadership. In addition to her service on the Board of Kids Brain Health Network, Donna has sat on the Board of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Board of Children’s Mental Health Ontario.

“We are eternally grateful for Donna’s time with us,” said Lewis. “KBHN would like to thank Donna for her contributions especially her strategic advice, creative thinking and her leadership role in the recruitment of new scientific leadership for the Network.”

With that said, please join us in wishing Donna Duncan well as she embarks on the next phase of her professional journey. May she bring the same positivity and charisma to her other endeavours as she did to the Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN).
