Waabshkigaabo is Anishinaabe from Lake of the Woods, his community is the Anishinaabe of Wauzhushk Onigum and are a part of Grand Council Treaty #3. He is 32 years old with a 14-year-old daughter. He holds a B.A. from the University of Manitoba with a focus on Political Studies.
Waabshkigaabo has spent over 22 years working as an Indigenous advocate and elected youth leader covering multiple sectors, most prominently mental health, relationship building, and inherent jurisdiction. Waabishkigaabo has more recently begun to speak on navigating life with autism and other neurodivergent traits. He is a recipient of the CAMIMH Individual Champion of Mental Health award in recognition of his work.
Waabshkigaabo has joined the advisory circle so young people will never have to feel limited in what they can accomplish despite the barriers that might be in front of them. He also hopes he can provide the best support so these barriers can be removed for young people to realize their dreams.
