Brian MacMillan
Chief Fund Development Officer, Kids Brain Health Foundation
Brian is a development leader with more than a decade of experience building strategic partnerships between academia, research, industry, and the philanthropic community. He has led transformational fundraising initiatives, cultivated major and principal gift relationships, and advanced organizational priorities through collaborative leadership and evidence-informed strategy.
Throughout his career, Brian has held senior fundraising leadership roles in post-secondary education. He has led fundraising strategies for major institutional priorities, secured significant philanthropic investments, and strengthened relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners. He has also played a key role in campaign planning, strategic fundraising, and advancing inclusive approaches to philanthropy.
Brian holds the Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation and is completing a Master of Arts in Leadership at Royal Roads University, where his research focuses on leadership, conflict, organizational systems, and creating the conditions for others to thrive.
Brian lives in Edmonton, Alberta, on Treaty 6 Territory and within the Métis Nation of Alberta, with his partner and their two dogs. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling, spending time with family, reading, gardening, and cooking.
