Amy Pietrantonio, B.M.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. Candidate
London, Ontario
Amy Pietrantonio is a Ph.D. candidate in Anatomy and Cell Biology and Collaborative Program in Developmental Biology at the University of Western Ontario. Amy completed her M.Sc. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Western Ontario in 2023. Her thesis project investigated the depressive-like phenotypes and metabolic dysfunction following prenatal alcohol exposure and juvenile stress. Her aim is to provide insight into why only some individuals are susceptible to these deficits, and to help further studies predicting which individuals are at risk—and ultimately provide them with the supports they need.
For Amy’s doctoral thesis, she will continue investigating prenatal alcohol exposure, with a focus on craniofacial development. Amy actively engages as a volunteer and committee member with community organizations, including the Children’s Health Foundation, the Developmental Biology Steering Committee, and the Society of Graduate Students Grad Club Committee.
