Carly McMorris, PhD, C.Psych
Carly McMorris is an Associate Professor in the School and Applied Child Psychology Program at the University of Calgary and a Child Clinical Psychologist. Her program of research identifies ways to improve the mental health and wellbeing of neurodiverse children, youth and young adults. Work in her lab (the ENHANCE Lab) is focused on conducting research that enhances the lives of children and families through a better understanding of neurodevelopment, health and child education. In particular, her research is focused on three main areas: 1) determining the underlying mechanisms (e.g., neurological, psychosocial, physiological) for the development and maintenance of mental health issues in neurodiverse children and youth; 2) examining the effectiveness of specific psychological interventions, such as cognitive behaviour therapy (e.g., Facing Your Fears), for neurodiverse individuals who experience mental health issues; and 3) identifying ways to prevent mental health issues from occurring in neurodiverse individuals with with mental health issues through the implementation and evaluation of specific programming (e.g., peer mentorship programs and Special Olympics).
