Certified French Translator with Neuroscience or Biomedical Background

ABOUT KIDS BRAIN HEALTH

The Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN) is a national Network of Centres of Excellence comprised of highly qualified researchers, health professionals, trainees, government agencies, private sector and not-for-profit organizations, and family partners dedicated to improving outcomes for children impacted by neurodevelopmental disabilities. JOB DESCRIPTION

The KBHN translator interprets written or spoken material into French while ensuring meaning and context are maintained. The translator will also create glossaries or term dictionaries and work with our researchers and other translators to maintain validity and accuracy.

JOB DUTIES

Translates various documents and media (online, video, and television), including research, technical, scientific, educational, and commercial materials
Reads through English project summaries, ascertains the understanding of the meaning and context of that material and converts it into French while making sure to preserve the original meaning
Reviews previously translated material and edits them for consistency and accuracy
Consults with subject matter experts and other colleagues to understand specialized concepts and translate them appropriately
Adheres to industry quality standards established by The Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council to ensure that all completed work is of the utmost quality

REQUIREMENTS

Must be both Francophone and a certified translator in the respective province of residence
Must possess an MSc in Neuroscience, Biomedical Research, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Health Policy or any other related discipline
Must have at least 2-3 years of translation experience
