Jacalyn Guy earned her BSc, MSc, and PhD (Neuroscience) all at McGill University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford. Funded by the Fonds de Recherche Sante-Quebec, she investigated sensory-related abilities that underpin cognition and behaviour in autism and fragile-x syndrome.
Jacalyn now works at the Medical Research Council’s Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge. Her research aims to understand how and why children struggle at school irrespective of any clinical diagnosis. The long-term goal of this work is to identify risk factors for difficulties and develop targeted interventions.
Jacalyn has recently broadened her interest in autism-related policy issues as a MITACS-CASDA fellow. She has led a project investigating ideas for autism research reform as part of a National Autism Strategy. She is excited to build on this experience by further engaging with stakeholders and translating research into evidence-informed policies as a KBHN-CASDA Policy Development Practicum Fellow.
