Laurence Meadows received his B.A. in Biochemistry from Oxford University and his Ph.D. from McGill University (Department of Neurology & Neurosurgery) where he examined the molecular & electrophysiological properties of voltage-gated sodium channels. He subsequently spent 4 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan (Department of Pharmacology) where he continued his research on sodium channels.
In 2006 Laurence joined the non-profit organization Mitacs in the capacity of Business Development, initially as a Director and later becoming a Business Development Team Lead. During his 14 years there Laurence helped grow awareness and uptake of Mitacs programs (such as the Mitacs Accelerate internship program) in BC and in Western Canada through developing and strengthening connections between industry, government and non-profit organizations with academia.
In early 2020 Laurence joined Simon Fraser University as a Strategic Partnerships Manager where his responsibilities include creating and growing partnerships and helping to support key university initiatives.
