Associate Chair & Instructor, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology
Dr. Melissa Dobson received her PhD in biochemistry many years ago. Through her work, she was involved in identifying three human genes and a new bacterial species. Melissa is currently the associate chair at NAIT in the Bachelor of Technology program. She is also chair of NAIT’s Research Ethics Board and a Director for the Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards. However ,Melissa feels none of these skills make her qualified (or prepared) to raise her three exceptional kids.
Melissa is passionate about helping herself, her family and others living with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Melissa’s mantra is learn, try, adapt, advocate, (and repeat). She has a great appreciation for her family, friends and the community of help available for her family. In her free time, Melissa dreams of spending time practicing mindfulness, reading books and going for quiet walks. In the meantime, she perseveres and takes things as they come.
