Dr. Susan Daniels, National Autism Coordinator, U.S. National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Dr. Daniels is the Acting National Autism Coordinator, a role created by Congress to increase coordination of federal autism research, services, and support activities. She is also the Director of the Office of Autism Research Coordination (OARC) at the National Institute of Mental Health/NIH, the office that manages the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC), a federal advisory committee created by Congress to coordinate federal agencies and to advise the Secretary of Health and Human Services on issues related to autism. She serve as the Executive Secretary of this committee, which is composed of federal officials and members of the autism community representing many diverse perspectives. She use her expertise in neuroscience and federal government policy to oversee the IACC’s strategic planning, policy, analysis, and communications activities and serve as a liaison with federal agencies and external organizations on matters related to autism and disabilities.
