Wendy Mitchell

Research Project Manager, University of Calgary

Wendy Mitchell, Ph.D., R.SLP, brings extensive experience in neuro-developmental disabilities as a speech language pathologist and more recently in supporting the KBHN Navigation project. She graduated with her PhD from Rehabilitation Medicine, and brings additional background in research addressing the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health concerns. Dr. Mitchell is currently completing a MITACS Accelerate post-doctoral fellowship investigating the information and resource supports that individuals with developmental disabilities and their families have accessed during the COVID-19 pandemic and the perceived impact of that information on individuals and families.

Prior to her involvement in KBHN, Dr. Mitchell was the National Program Manager for Worktopia, a program offering young adults with autism an opportunity to gain work experience and potential employment. This project aligned with her doctoral studies that focused on adult’s use of language during an employment interview. Preceding this, Dr. Mitchell worked as a Speech Language Pathologist for over 20 years supporting the needs of children with communication challenges.
