Master’s Student, University of British Columbia
Erin is an occupational therapist with almost 20 years of clinical experience, primarily working with infants and children. She is currently working with Dr. Jill Zwicker on a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of British Columbia. Erin’s research examines the experience of parents of children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD), a common but under-recognized neurodevelopmental disorder. Because there is limited awareness of this condition, families have difficulty obtaining a diagnosis and accessing therapy services and school support for their children. She is hoping that her work will influence future care of children with DCD.
Currently, Erin is the project manager for the Strategic Mental Health Research Youth and Family Advisory Panel. This pilot project evaluates the collaboration between researchers and youth and family partners, to inform and develop research projects on mental health and substance use within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. When she’s not working, Erin enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
