Personal experience gained from raising a child with autism, knowledge of the lack of services available to families, combined with my awareness of the absence of training in police officers, with respect to this disability, guided me to be one of the founding members of the Autism Registry.
The OPS pioneered the Autism Registry in North America in 2009, which now has over 1000 registrants and has received a favourability rate of over 99%. The Registry has grown provincially and has gained national and international attention.
