Position Overview

The Director of Implementation and Programs at Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN) plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between research and practical application. This role is designed to ensure that proven scientific innovations are effectively implemented, scaled, and supported through strategic partnerships and business development efforts that expand access for children and families. The Director will work closely with various stakeholders, program and strategic partners, and internal teams to achieve these goals.

Purpose

The Director’s purpose is to make sure that the valuable research done by KBHN-funded teams is not just published in papers but actually turned into practical solutions that can help children and their families. They will bridge the gap between research and real-world application, ensuring that innovations are effectively implemented and made available to those who need them.

Core Responsibilities

Implementation and Business Development Expertise

  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with moving science research-based innovations into practice and to market, and implementation science, ideally within a research ecosystem.
  • Provide or facilitate project coordination and evaluation support, including product development and market data analysis.
  • Provide or facilitate the development of implementation roadmaps, business and marketing plans, and readiness assessments.
  • Identify and broker services to support progress in business planning, development, partnership facilitation, and investment.
  • Match innovators with appropriate tools and resources (e.g., guides) to assist them through various stages of implementation, aiming for market scale and spread, and investment potential.
  • Commercialization knowledge
  • Work with the Business Development and Commercialization Advisor for guidance and support.

Stakeholder and Partner Engagement

  • Collaborate with organizational stakeholders on large-scale projects, helping program partners gain practical experience and apply implementation science theories and models.
  • Support implementation projects across various contexts like healthcare, education, and children’s services.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to advance the organization’s goals.

Project Management and Leadership

  • Act as the main contact for lead investigators on funded projects, conducting regular review meetings to monitor progress and address issues.
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Advancement to ensure Foundation-funded programs and projects meet donor requirements, and help identify funding opportunities.

Proposal Development

  • Provide excellent coaching and support in proposal writing for industry and investor support.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in implementation within research settings.
  • Proven experience in bringing science-based innovations to market.
  • Strong skills in business planning, development, and facilitating partnerships and investments.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to coordinate and evaluate projects.
  • Strong data analysis skills to support project evaluation and improvement.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders on large-scale projects.
  • Strong proposal writing and pitch coaching abilities.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences. Bilingual (French/English) an asset.
