Jeff Charpentier
Retired finance executive in the life sciences sector
Jeff Charpentier was born and raised in Vancouver. After attending the University of British Columbia, he earned his Chartered Accountant designation with KPMG. He subsequently transitioned into industry, building a career of approximately three decades in the life sciences sector.
Throughout his career, Jeff worked with several public and private companies, primarily serving as Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary. The life sciences companies he supported were largely focused on research and development, including the development of treatments for cancer and other medical conditions. His responsibilities included raising equity capital to fund research and development, overseeing the efficient use of capital, maintaining appropriate stakeholder reporting, and supporting strong corporate governance practices.
Jeff’s experience relevant to Kids Brain Health Network includes his involvement with the Praxis Spinal Cord Institute, which began while he was working with viDA Therapeutics. He joined the Praxis Board of Directors in 2016 and served as Chair of its Audit Committee for seven years, completing the maximum allowable term. Although Praxis and Kids Brain Health Network address different medical needs, the organizations share several areas of alignment, including research, care programs, and innovation.
Now largely retired from paid employment, Jeff remains actively involved in his community. He volunteers several hours a day, three to four or more days each week, with a local food bank and an after-school program serving elementary school-aged children.
