The Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN) National Training Program aims to enhance the training of the next generation of researchers and professionals to develop and implement innovative solutions and services with the potential to improve the lives of children living with neurodevelopmental disabilities, their families and caregivers.
Our Annual KBHN Outstanding Awards
To support, promote, and acknowledge those who have shown excellence and dedication within the Network, four awards are available for professionals with outstanding achievements:
- Outstanding KBHN Trainee Member Award
- Outstanding KBHN Promising Researcher Award
- Outstanding KBHN Mentor/Supervisor Award
- Outstanding KBHN Leadership Award in Family Engagement in Research

Outstanding KBHN Trainee Member Award
This award recognizes a trainee’s outstanding contribution and commitment to the Kids Brain Health Network. The recipient dedicates large amounts of time and energy to Network activities, including but not limited to, conferences, webinars, and workshops. The individual has shown enthusiasm through high levels of engagement and involvement. All levels of trainees may be nominated, including undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
The awardee will receive $1,500 and a certificate of the award, as well as registration and a travel award to the KBHN Annual Conference. The awardee will be featured on the KBHN website, newsletter, and social media.
Outstanding KBHN Promising Researcher Award
This award recognizes a trainee’s outstanding research achievements. Submissions can be for either bench or bedside research. The nominee must be a KBHN trainee involved in research. All levels of trainees may be nominated, including undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
The awardee will receive $1,500 and a certificate of the award, as well as a registration and travel award to the KBHN Annual Conference. The awardee will be featured on the KBHN website, newsletter, and social media.
Outstanding KBHN Mentor / Supervisor Award
This award is presented to a researcher or a professional who provided outstanding supervision or mentorship with the ability to inspire KBHN trainees. This person coaches and encourages others to succeed in fulfilling the KBHN’s mission to conduct research in an inclusive and dynamic learning environment and translates that knowledge into practice. Any mentor or supervisor contributing to the KBHN training program. Researchers and professionals from all disciplines are eligible.
The awardee will receive a certificate of the award. The awardee will be featured on the KBHN website, newsletter, and social media.
Outstanding KBHN Leadership Award in Family Engagement in Research (FER)
This award celebrates the important contributions of individuals with lived or living experience and/or their caregivers in neurodevelopmental disability research, for members with lived or living experience of a neurodevelopmental disability and/or their family or caregivers.
The awardee will receive $1,500 and a certificate of the award, as well as registration and travel to the KBHN Annual Conference. The awardee will be featured on the KBHN website, newsletter, and social media.
