Calling all Canadian Child and Family Researchers!

The Maternal Infant Child and Youth Research Network (MICYRN) and CIHR’s Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH) are collaborating to create a catalogue of all on-going COVID-19 research in Canada related to mothers, children and families. This catalogue will be used to inform the Chief Science Advisor’s Task Force on COVID-19 in Children on active research efforts in Canada.

Once the information has been shared with the task force, MICYRN, IHDCYH, Children’s Healthcare Canada and the Paediatric Chairs of Canada will work to expand the database to maximize its utility to support collaboration and allow identification of gaps and strengths in Canada’s research activities. Information on active research effort would allow our organizations and the task force to:
  • Accelerate knowledge transfer to decision-makers by identifying and communicating directly with the relevant project leads to discuss ongoing research and preliminary results.
  • Identify opportunities for better coordinating, initiating or accelerating research to address existing knowledge gaps.
Any information you could share on your active or recently funded COVID-19-related project by updating/completing the following survey would be much appreciated.

Dr. Mona Nemer has convened this task force with a mandate to assess evidence and knowledge gaps related to COVID-19 in children, including with respect to infectivity, transmission, disease course and risk factors. The task force currently has a limited amount of information regarding the relevant research efforts currently being conducted across Canada. Information on active research efforts will allow our organizations and the task force to:

  • Accelerate knowledge transfer to decision-makers by identifying and communicating directly with the relevant project leads to discuss ongoing research and preliminary results.
  • Identify opportunities for better coordinating, initiating or accelerating research to address existing knowledge gaps.

Once the information has been shared with the task force, MICYRN, IHDCYH, CHC, and PCC will work to expand the database to maximize its utility to support collaboration and allow identification of gaps and strengths in Canada’s research activities.

Thank you for your help, and we apologize in advance to recipients who may receive the request several times, as it is being shared by organizations through their own distribution list.
