Genevieve Currie

Genevieve Currie is a parent of two children, both of whom have neurodevelopmental disorders, and one of which is a rare, medically complex disease. She is a parent advocate, registered nurse, and researcher. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Mount Royal University, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She sits on several national committees around rare disease and medical complexity, including as Co-Chair of the Children with Medical Complexity Network with Children’s Healthcare Canada. She also works with CanChild Center for Disability Research to deliver Family Engagement in Research courses for caregivers, researchers and clinicians. Her current research and expertise interests are focused on family-centred care, family engagement in health care and research, caregiving across the life course and pediatric medical complexity and rare disease. Genevieve joined the KBHN advisory committee because of her desire to give back to the larger research community from her own lived and living experience and her work as a researcher.
