Saul Katz is a dynamic entrepreneur with a passion to commercialize scientific innovation for the benefit of society. Twice ranked among the “Top 100 Health Influencers”, Saul draws on 40 years of experience as a lawyer, inventor, board chair, director and CEO of public and private companies.
Saul co-founded Fringe Field Technologies (FFT), a digital health biosensing technology company with a vision to transform diabetes management. Saul also founded Advanced Nutri-Tech Systems, a joint venture with the University of Alberta Hospitals, awarded “Most Innovative Product of the Year”.
A graduate of McGill University (B.A.) and the University of Ottawa (LL.L., LL.B), Saul worked at the Department of Justice in Ottawa, Alberta Energy Company, and as VP, General Counsel for the Ghermezian Family, developers of the West Edmonton Mall and Mall of America.
With a lifelong commitment to community service, Saul established the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Section of the Canadian Bar Association, was Alberta moderator for the Royal Commission, Canadian Forum on Canada’s Future, and co-founded the Alberta Economic Development Authority. He also co-founded or was director of other non-profit associations, including the Alberta Biotechnology Association, the Alberta Food Processors Association, the Canada-Japan Business Association of Edmonton, and the Edmonton Opera.
