Katie Timms (Métis) is a passionate advocate for Indigenous health equity, youth empowerment, and community-driven research. Currently working as a Research Coordinator in Indigenous Health at the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, she supports culturally safe research grounded in Two-Eyed Seeing and Indigenous-led methodologies. With experience facilitating sharing circles, coordinating knowledge exchange, and centering lived Indigenous experience in research, Katie is committed to uplifting Indigenous voices across all areas of health, wellness and research.

With a degree in First Nations and Indigenous Studies from the University of British Columbia, Katie’s background combines academic training with community involvement, shaped by a deep personal commitment to advancing the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Bringing both lived and professional experience navigating colonial systems, she strives to support pathways to healing, self-determination, and intergenerational strength.

Katie is honoured to join the Advisory Circle and contribute to the development of an Indigenous funding stream rooted in Indigenous priorities, values, and ways of knowing. She is inspired by the collective wisdom of the Circle and looks forward to supporting impactful, culturally grounded initiatives that create meaningful change for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children, families, and communities across Turtle Island.
